I was recently organizing my crafts closet and had to keep moving this project from place to place. I finally took the hint and decided to finish it. I can't remember when I first started this but it was about 7 or 8 years ago. I got all the cross stitch done first, and then sandwiched it and began quilting by hand. Actually, that's almost finished, too. There really isn't that much more work to do to get the quilting finished, then bind it, and it's all set for the holidays.

My plan was to use this on one of the many tables we have scattered around the house. Now I'm thinking I might use it as a tree skirt for a small tree I put in the front window (which sits on a large cedar chest). As you can tell, I'm in a "Christmas in July" mood :)
(And I really should have taken the hoop off before I took the picture...)

I too am in a Christmas in July mood Joanne! It is great that you took this UFO out to finish it as it is far too pretty not to get the last bit done. You are so far on it and it will look great when you have it completed. I really love getting some old projects cleared up and am using all of 2008 to do just that. Stash dieting is difficult but so far I have done well. I cannot buy until I clear out the many projects left half done. Do you have many things like that? It is going to give you a wonderful feeling to see this as a finish.
Hope you will join me on my blog on the 25th for a tutorial for an easy and fun Christmas project.
Hugs ~

Truly beautiful Joanne! It will look perfect wrapped around your window tree. It would look even more perfect wrapped around my tree - LOL!

That is gorgeous! It must feel so good to have this project nearing completion!!!
This is so beautiful! It needs to be where people can see and admire it. It would be pretty framed as well!
