Cats and Christmas

Five years ago my husband came home with my Christmas gift on December 16th. The gift was a sweet little 4 pound, 4 month old kitty that I named Dinsdale (a name I liked from a skit in one of the Monty Python episodes... one that involved a giant hedgehog, but I won't go into all that just now, lol).

That first Christmas he loved jumping into the middle of a small artificial tree that my husband was trying to put up in the sunroom. We gave up on the idea of ornaments for that tree, and just added some garlands so Dinsey could have lots of fun leaping into the tree and pulling them down.

The past few years he's enjoyed visiting the tree in our daughter's room, and pulling off some of the lower ornaments (much to her aggravation!). This year we only have one tree up so far (which will be decorated today). He hasn't shown much interest until I added a piece of Christmas flannel underneath, along with some presents. Here he is, enjoying a favorite spot... (his eyes are green, but are a bit "scary" in this picture *smile*)

Later in the day he was curled up in his bed, but something caught his attention. He sat up, and for the longest time stared at the snowglobe (with a scene of New York City) that I placed on the hearth. After giggling with our daughter for awhile, I decided to grab the camera and take his picture...

He finally got tired once again, and decided to go back to sleep...

How can anyone resist a cute cat???!!! Dinsdale is just adorable. Now can you blame him Joanne when you place such a nice and comfy blanket just for him under your tree? I have to admit that I have never had any of my cats interested in climbing in or pulling on anything in our tree. I guess I am very lucky with that. Dagi does like to pretend he is a present and curl up under the tree but so far this year, he only did it once right after it went up. He is just not interested this year. He likes my lap better. :)

I just love the photo of Dinsdale looking at the snowglobe! Cats are the funniest of creatures. He looks like he knows he has one very good life with you.

Hugs ~

What a sweet kitty! I'd be lost without my Daisy. She loves playing under the tree, she swats her toys under the quilt that is under the tree. So funny!
Merry Christmas!
