Today I enjoyed a lazy Sunday afternoon and watched a few different football games and stitched. I was anxious to start something new last night, so pulled out Little House Needleworks Autumn Sampler. I was too lazy to go look in my stash for an ivory fabric, so decided to use the mocha color I already had in my hoop, with plans to make this piece into a cozy pillow when finished.
It's been fun to work on and I just love the silks. I'm not happy, though, with the one color. The name of the color for the words "Autumn Sampler" is Pumpkin Carriage, and this is the same color to be used for a pumpkin at the bottom of the piece. I think I'm going to use something else for the pumpkin since I prefer something more in the traditional pumpkin shade. I have some other overdyes, including some silks, so will see if I can find what I'm looking for. With the darker fabric I used, I think it really needs something that stands out a bit more than the gold color. I was even thinking of ripping out the Autumn Sampler words and restitching them, too. I'll have to see how ambitious I am :)
I'm looking forward to working on this in the evenings this week, and maybe I can report a Friday finish!

I love how this is coming out! Can't wait to see it progress!
I am not surprised that you got this design. It is perfect for you. I can't wait to see it done up as a pillow. I do agree with you about the color of 'pumpkin carriage'. It is okay for the words but a bit too golden for the pumpkins. It seems to be stitching up quickly if you just started it.
Enjoy!
I can't wait to see more of this sampler, Joanne! It's look very nice. ~ Lynda ♥
Joanne,
This is looking lovely. I love the gold colour but agree about it not being quite right for pumpkin. It's a really pretty design.
