September Thoughts

Happy September! I know it's early in the month, but I couldn't resist sharing the following passage with you ~ even though it talks about the days of late September.

Autumn is definitely here for me, even if the weather is still warm. I've kept my favorite season in my thoughts all weekend as I stitched the Thanksgiving design I shared yesterday, and today when my husband and I went out for a visit to Starbucks, I had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season :)

"The cool and sparkling days of late September flow like golden wine into the bowl of autumn. I cannot have enough of each day; I try to measure the minutes sparingly, for this is the time of enchantment. The leaves are turning, and I wonder whether I ever saw them before, for the colors are a new miracle of blended tones. Surely this year it is a lovelier autumn; the maples have a clearer fire, the oaks are a richer burgundy. And the goldenrod ~ was it Thoreau who called it spilled sunshine? The wild asters break their purple waves over the old stone fences. The upland meadows are beautiful, a brown suffused with gold.

If anyone now asked me what happiness is, I should say it is a September day in New England."

Joanne, isn't it wonderful that we can enjoy the season and get closer to the winter. I love the fall! The smells and sights that go along with it warm my heart!

What a wonderful evocative passage from Gladys Taber. I really felt i was there watching the beautiful Autumn colours once again. This time last year I flew to Ottawa for a week and then went to Michingan for the end of September. the colours were breathtaking.
Pumpkin Spice latte sounds mouthwatering but sadly, we don't have it here :>(
I love your sweet little birthday mouse from Heidi, all wrapped uo in Autumn's pretty fabrics.
A belated happy birthday.
