Isn't that a pretty quote? I plan to spend a few hours this morning writing some long letters to friends. They're way overdue and I must catch up.
I'm going to pour myself another cup of coffee and prepare a plate with some fruit and a few cookies, and then sit down with some pretty stationery and a new favorite pen (which I received from my friend Terri... and her husband made it!!). I just love going through my basket of stationery and selecting just the right one.
As much as I love writing emails to keep in touch with friends and family, there's nothing quite the same as putting your thoughts down on nice paper... or opening up the mailbox and finding a letter from a friend waiting for you.

I agree, Joanne ... there's nothing like receiving a letter in your mailbox! Enjoy your morning catching up with friends. :)
I totally agree with you too, Joanne. I handwrote long letters since I was a young teenager to friends living as far as USA and Japan (and other countries in the middle too). At that time the letters were long to arrive, but what a thrill to receive the answer, with postcards, nice stamps, other tiny bits.At that time almost all my pocket money went into buying stamps! Later I went on to write to friends whom I met along the way of life. Still now I go on because I like to add tiny gifts in the envelope, but often I write with the computer, because it's so much quicklier, so I can write more, but I always use a nice stationary or I glue stickers.
Internet has brought about the decline of a written letter and we often forget that they are so special. Perhaps more than ever in these times. What is more precious than giving of ourselves in a written word. I applaud your taking the time to write the letters Joanne!
