"I had for my winter evening walk ~~
No one at all with whom to talk,
But I had the cottages in a row
Up to their shining eyes in snow.
And I thought I had the folk within:
I had the sound of a violin;
I had a glimpse through curtain laces
Of youthful forms and youthful faces.
I had such company outward bound.
I went till there were no cottages found.
I turned and repented, but coming back
I saw no window but that was black.
Over the snow my creaking feet
Disturbed the slumbering village street
Like profanation, by your leave,
At ten o'clock of a winter eve."
~ Robert Frost, "Good Hours"

Thank you so much for your so kind remark on my site yesterday. How lucky you are to have memories of the Lancaster county. For me it's only a dream that I can imagine through books (I already have a few) and through reports on TV (when they are good and honest)! Two days ago I ordered 5 Amish books from an Amish lady I found on the web. They are cookbooks mixed with tips, thoughts, memories... of the Amish living, and also a book with the "best of" 25 years of the Magazine Country Living (I am not sure of the name any more). I'm in great expectation to receive these books and to discover new inspiration for me. Iwish you a blessed and quiet week end.
